Stage 3. Spaubeek (NL) to Landgraaf (NL)

Spaubeek is a quiet village with even a train station. Near the Sint-Laurentiuskerk is a large square where you can park for free and from which you can easily discover Spaubeek.
Spaubeek originated from a group of houses in the area, of which Hobbelrade is the most beautiful. Here you can admire a long series of old farmhouses, including a large half-timbered farmhouse. Above all Spaubeek is a hiking paradise from the village you are immediate in the middle of nature.
Landgraaf is located in the south-east of the province Limburg (NL) and is a relatively young municipality in beautiful surroundings.
Landgraaf owes its name to a very special prehistoric canal that runs right through the region. Today this dry canal, the “Landgraaf” connects the inhabited part of Landgraaf and the beautiful environment which mainly consists of heather.
For lovers of culture and architecture there is plenty to see in Landgraaf. The castles Strijthagen and Wormdal in Rimburg are certainly worth a visit, but the old farms and water mills are also very beautiful.
The old mining district is of course also part of the culture and if you want to take a relaxing walk there is the wonderful City Park Gravenrode.
